Why did --- become a mentor?

---

My education in the electrical engineering field had confirmed that I wanted to make a career in that field. That being said, those same studies, as well as work opportunities along the way (internship & master thesis at a start-up), taught me that I wanted something more from my job than just designing circuits. Browsing job opportunities on corporate websites of companies I knew from using their products in previous projects, I learned about the role of Field Application Engineer (FAE). This role seemed very appealing to me as it added a sales/business dimension to the technical dimension of electrical engineering and would allow me to develop new skills on top of allowing me to develop a strong network. From there on, I mostly applied to FAE opportunities.

A few things actually:
1. I had a discussion with a FAE from the office I was hoping to work in to discuss how the interviews went and what was important to best prepare for them.
2. I made some preparation sheets for:
* the technical interview by summarizing some key electronics knowledge and by analyzing a mobile phone block diagram to have all the key electronics sub-systems fresh in my mind for the interview.
* the HR interview by answering some common questions on Glassdoor for FAE roles and by writing some key facts about the company I was applying to.
3. I had interviews with other companies for the same job role, which definitely helped me be ready for the interviews at TI.
